My SMAD got the better of me today and I bought this at an estate sale for $75 simply because I'd never seen one before:
It sews like a classic mechanical Bernina! Really smooth and nice, even though it probably hasn't been oiled in some time. The nylon gear is still going strong. It has a foot pedal and not the knee control like the 530-2. It did not come with a sewing table or a case.
I'm having some buyers remorse. First, I didn't notice that the stitch width knob was broken:
The owner, who died last month, bought in Germany more than 50 years ago. She also smoked like a chimney, as did her husband, and the machine is coated with that brownish-yellowish stuff. Quite a cleaning job ahead.
It did come with 12 feet, the old style Bernina feet without numbers. I know the on on the right is a zipper foot -- different from today's Bernina zipper foot -- but what are the two things that look like darning/free motion feet? The one on the left is not a classic embroidery foot -- that's on the machine, kinda crooked in the first pic and discolored with cigarette tar. Does anyone know what it is?

This is a GREAT find, especially for the feet. Obviously the FM foot with the wider hole is for zig zag. I'm not sure why, but when ZZ and variable needle positions were introduced, many type of feet came in two versions: SS and ZZ. Even to this day Bernina sells a bewildering array of narrow hemmers, some with just a litlte hole, others for ZZ, 'shell hemmers'. Not sure why, but it seems these could be consolidated in some way.
Cleaning machines is fun. Use lighter fluid to get rid of the grime. Then restore the shine with some car finishing and wax. To clean the feet, put them in a bowl with a scoop of OxyClean, pour boiling water over them and wait for 30 minutes. This is ok because these don't have the plastic decal on the front of the feet like the later Bernina feet. Rinse and dry with a hair dryer.
Sometimes you can get replacement dials and cases on Ebay or Etsy. Just keep looking.

Second from the right Tear drop embroidery foot #26.
Second from the left looks like a darning foot, but you might want to check out this

Thanks, Soolip. I was thinking about your Oxyclean method before I posted. It is an amazingly effective technique.
And thanks for the reassurance -- that the feet alone are worth the purchase.

Great link, loti!
I'm thinking that fourth foot is a cording foot.

Think of it this way:
You spent 75$ on over 200$ worth of feet and got a free machine to play with!

The manual says that the 530 comes with a zigzag foot, a zigzag embroidery foot (red line), a Hemmer, a lap Hemmer, a blind stitch foot, an edger with quilting guide, a roll Hemmer (two red lines), a button foot (two black lines), a buttonhole foot, an automatic darning foot, a wool darning foot, and a seven groove pintuck foot. The narrow Hemmer, plain stitch foot, and gathering foot were available as options.
Bernina's manual reprint is very poor, but Rudolf couture has an excellent copy for free download. The illustrations are far clearer.

I see these here now and then and I think they are fine machines. SO SOLID and so well made. You can not regret this purchase. Unless you are a real whiz at this stuff, get a tech to go over it and service it (a tech you trust) and then clean it all up nicely - if you do have a tech you trust he might keep his eyes open for another knob to replace the broken one and you will be all set.And WOW - it already sews!!!!! AWESOME find!

Yes, andye, you are right. That first one is the buttonhole foot. The opening in the front must allows for cording (a gimp) for the buttonhole. Plus, there is a rectangular groove on the bottom of the sole, allowing the foot to glide over the side of the buttonhole.
